Bolsonaro Supporters Riot.

Americans are bound to remember the attack on the United States capitol, with its 2nd anniversary being this past Friday, January 6th. But in Brazil, millions of citizens are now thinking of a new insurrection: their very own riot in the Brazilian congress this January 8th.

After Jair Bolsonaro’s loss in Brazil’s most recent presidential election, supporters of Bolsonaro, more commonly known as “Bolsonaristas” in Brazil, gathered at the Brazilian Congress (located in Brasilia) on Sunday to riot. This is a result of Lula Da Silva’s election. As of now, hundreds of arrests have been made, and several journalists have also been attacked. Many Bolsonaristas also camped outside of the congress, with some just now starting to leave. The uprising has since been denounced by not only Brazil’s current president and other leaders but world leaders around the world such as Antonio Guterres of the United Nations.

Brazil is under a lot of pressure at the moment, with one sole question being: what now?
