Florida keeps breaking Covid-19 infection records.

Despite almost 50% of Florida's population being fully vaccinated for the virus, Florida has continuously broken its daily record of Covid-19 cases this past week, reaching up to 22,000 new cases reported on Thursday. In fact, the state has now recorded over 13,000 hospitalizations and 40,000 fatalities all attributed to the virus.

These numbers indicate that if Florida was a separate country, the United States would have to seriously consider placing a travel ban on the state.

Many have credited this rise in cases to the spread of the Delta variant, a highly infectious version of the virus. In nearby Broward County, the need for hospital beds has become unsustainable. The majority of these patients are unvaccinated and unwilling to be unvaccinated. This reluctance has been condoned by Ron DeSantis, who has objected heavily to requiring medical staff in hospitals to get the vaccine.

Although the vaccine may not stop infection every time, it is important to note it fights against more serious hospitalization.
