On January 2, late in the third quarter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New York Jets game, Antonio Brown stormed off the field in dramatic fashion, stripping all the way down to just his pants and hyping up the crowd before running off the field. On January 6, 2022, Brown was officially released from the Buccaneers. News of the incident is still flowing in.

Bruce Arians, head coach of the Buccaneers, reports that Brown refused to play because he believed he deserved more targets, or passes. However, Brown has now said that he was hurt and was physically unable to play. He even provided texts between himself and Arians about his injury.

Brown has been involved with tons of drama during this year, mainly attributed to COVID-19. He was accused of having fake vaccine cards, allowing him to have more freedom during the NFL season. Brown was suspended for three games after this was discovered. After the incident during the New York game, more information has surfaced. A woman named Ava Louise claims that Brown allegedly snuck her into the team’s hotel the night before the game against the Jets, breaking the NFL’s COVID safety protocols. Brown then tried to pay Louise to silence her.

Brown is no stranger to controversy, as seen over the past few years of his career. After forcing himself out of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown found himself on the Oakland Raiders. However, after controversies with his foot and the new NFL helmets, Brown left the Raiders without even playing a game. He then had a short stint with the New England Patriots before being released, and most recently played on the Bucs.

Antonio Brown now finds himself without a job again, leaving many wondering if one of the league’s most talented players will ever step on the field again.
